Spotify account was hacked and Investigation started

Spotify announced that the account of a user was hacked and the company had started the investigation. Spotify is a commercial music stream which is launched in October 2008 by the Swedish startup Spotify AB which provides the access to Android, iOS and Windows users. Offline listening facility is also available for the users who playback is available for the paid subscribers. According to the survey report Spotify had reached about 40 million active users with about 10 million paid subscribers.


Stal, Chief Technology officer of Spotify announced in a blog that it is found that there is an unauthorized access to the account and access to company internal data. He added that the company evidence shows that only one user is affected by this data breach and it doesn’t include any financial data or personal data. He noted that the company starts the investigation process and the individual user was contacted and the updates are processed.

The company also plans to update the Android app for the extra safety process and the app will be available only on Google Play or Amazon app store and no action is recommended for iOS and windows phone users. On this update the users will request to re-enter the passwords and other security systems will be followed for the safety concern and make the data safe and secure.
